FLORIDA — A 50-year-old St. Augustine man was killed early Wednesday morning after being struck by a car in Alachua County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 6 a.m. on State Road 24 at Northeast 57th Street.
Investigators said the man was attempting to cross the roadway when he was hit by a sedan. According to FHP, the pedestrian failed to yield the right-of-way, leading to the collision.
Authorities also said the man was not wearing reflective or high-visibility clothing at the time of the crash and noted that the roadway was not lighted.
The man died at the scene, troopers said.
The identities of those involved have not been released as the investigation continues.
