NORTH CAROLINA — A 26-year-old man is dead following a late-night shooting in Winston-Salem, according to police.
Officers responded to Highland Avenue after receiving reports of a discharged weapon. While heading to the scene, police said they received another call about a man lying in a nearby parking lot.
When officers arrived, they found Drel Elijah Timmons, 26, suffering from a gunshot wound. Police attempted to render aid, but Timmons was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the shooting was not believed to be a random act of violence.
No suspect information has been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
