TENNESSEE — A Portland man faces multiple charges following a police pursuit and drug-related investigation earlier this month, according to authorities.

The Portland Police Department said officers arrested Michael Thomas Stroud on May 15 after receiving a BOLO, or “Be on the Lookout,” alert from the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office related to a vehicle pursuit in which the driver allegedly fled from a traffic stop.

Police said officers later spotted the vehicle turning onto Gateview Drive and attempted to pursue it but temporarily lost sight of it.

Authorities said officers later located the vehicle and found the driver walking in the parking lot of Gateview Elementary School. The driver was identified as Stroud.

During a search and investigation of the vehicle, officers reportedly discovered an alcoholic beverage, a suspected THC vape pen, a suspected methamphetamine pipe and suspected synthetic urine.

Police also said Stroud was driving on a revoked license.

Stroud was taken into custody and booked into the Sumner County Jail.

He is charged with reckless endangerment with a vehicle, driving on a revoked license, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, falsification of drug test results, tampering with evidence and violations of the state’s financial responsibility law.

The investigation remains ongoing.
