
INDIANA — A 37-year-old woman was airlifted to a hospital after a tree fell onto her SUV in LaPorte County on Monday morning, authorities said.
According to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened in the 3100 block of North Fail Road. Police said the woman, identified only as a LaPorte resident, was driving a GMC Acadia northbound when a large tree located west of the roadway fell eastward and landed on top of the SUV.
First responders arrived at the scene and worked to free the woman, who was trapped inside the vehicle following the incident.
Authorities said she was flown to a hospital for advanced medical treatment. Her specific injuries were not released.
Police described the woman’s survival as “miraculous.”
