ALABAMA — A man is facing multiple charges after police say he acted disorderly and resisted arrest following an incident at a Phenix City Dollar Tree over the weekend.

Arrest warrants were issued Tuesday for Jaicyn Banda on charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication, attempting to elude and resisting arrest.

The incident happened Sunday night at the Dollar Tree located on 13th Street in Phenix City.

Police said officers responded to the store around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of an altercation involving a man and two women, including one who was pregnant. Witnesses told officers the man had harassed the women and behaved in a disorderly manner in public.

Authorities identified Banda as the suspect and said he was seen walking across the parking lot toward the city’s art park. Officers reportedly gave loud verbal commands for him to stop, but police said he refused to comply.

According to officials, Banda stopped walking after another officer arrived but continued refusing commands to get on the ground. Police said officers eventually forced him to the ground and placed him in handcuffs after multiple commands were ignored.

Investigators said Banda had injuries from the earlier altercation in the parking lot and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police also reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from Banda. Authorities said the Columbus Police Department later informed them that Banda had allegedly consumed several alcoholic drinks at a downtown Columbus bar before leaving without paying.
