OHIO — A fiery crash involving two semi trucks has caused major traffic disruptions Monday morning on Interstate 71 in Ashland County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. on I-71 northbound just north of the U.S. 30 interchange.

Troopers said a disabled semi truck was parked on the right shoulder when a second semi traveling northbound went off the roadway and struck it.

Authorities said the impact caused the second semi to burst into flames.

The driver of the disabled semi was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second semi was treated at the scene, according to the highway patrol.

Only one lane of traffic is getting through the area Monday morning, and drivers were urged to avoid the area.

Officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation have established a detour at U.S. 30 as crews work at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
