OHIO — A man has been charged with murder after a deadly incident at a Green Township home Friday afternoon that also prompted lockdowns at two nearby schools.

According to the Green Township Police Department, officers and the coroner’s office responded to the 6200 block of Sharlene Drive, where they found a 69-year-old man dead inside a home.

Police said the suspect, identified as Elijah Ray McCulloch, fled the scene before being arrested in a wooded area less than a mile away. McCulloch has been charged with aggravated murder and was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center.

Investigators have not released the identity of the victim or said what led to the killing.

The police activity led to temporary lockdowns at two nearby schools. According to the Oak Hills Local School District, Oak Hills High School and J.F. Dulles Elementary School were placed on lockdown “out of an abundance of caution” because of police activity in the area.

District officials said Green Township police later informed them the situation had been resolved, allowing the lockdowns to be lifted.

In a statement, the district thanked police and first responders for their assistance.

“The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority,” the statement said.
