OHIO — A man wanted on violent felony warrants for several years was arrested in Toledo this week, according to authorities.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Alejandro Acevedo on May 14 in coordination with the Defiance Police Department, officials announced Friday.

According to a news release from the Defiance Police Department, Acevedo had been wanted since October 2021 on charges originating in Defiance County. Authorities did not specify the charges but said the warrants were connected to several violent offenses.

“This arrest sends a clear message that individuals who commit violent crimes and attempt to flee justice will be pursued relentlessly,” Defiance Police Chief Herbert said in a statement. “We are grateful for the professionalism and dedication of the U.S. Marshals Service and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in bringing this case to a safe resolution.”

Herbert also said the department recently added a patrolman assigned as a Task Force Officer with the U.S. Marshals Service.

“This additional resource strengthens our ability to work alongside federal partners and enhances public safety not only in Defiance but across the entire region,” Herbert said. “We are committed to ensuring that those who threaten our communities are held accountable.”
