Thousands without power in Florida

FLORIDA — More than 3,300 customers across Florida are without electricity Thursday morning, according to outage data from PowerOutage.us.

The outage tracking website reported 3,371 customers without power statewide out of more than 10.9 million tracked customers as of the latest update. That accounts for approximately 0.03% of customers across the state.

Miami-Dade County is reporting the largest number of outages with 1,230 customers affected. Other counties with notable outages include Volusia County with 365 outages, Palm Beach County with 224, Broward County with 200 and Brevard County with 173.

Among utility providers, Florida Power & Light Company is reporting the highest number of outages statewide with 2,642 customers without service. Duke Energy is reporting 261 outages, while Tampa Electric has 154 customers affected.

By percentage, Broward County is currently the hardest-hit county in the state with about 1% of tracked customers without power. Meanwhile, Florida Keys Electric Cooperative has the highest percentage of customers impacted among utility providers at 0.22%.

Florida currently ranks eighth in the nation for the total number of outages, according to the outage tracking site.
