
OHIO — A juvenile was critically injured after being struck by an SUV late Wednesday night in west Columbus, according to police.
The crash happened just before midnight on Hilliard Rome Road near Hilliard Rome Road East. Police said an adult driver was traveling south in a 2015 Toyota Highlander around 11:58 p.m. when a juvenile attempted to cross the roadway south of the intersection during a “don’t walk” signal.
Investigators said the juvenile was struck by the front of the SUV and knocked to the ground. The driver stopped and remained at the scene following the crash.
The juvenile was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
Police said the crash remains under investigation.
