PENNSYLVANIA — A 20-year-old man was killed Tuesday evening following a head-on crash in Lycoming County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened around 7:28 p.m. on the 2100 block of Route 44 in Nippenose Township.
Investigators identified the victim as Milan Glen Dodson of Jersey Shore. Police said Dodson was driving southbound when he attempted to pass another vehicle by entering the northbound lane.
According to state police, Dodson encountered an oncoming vehicle driven by 36-year-old Arliss James Rhinehart of Waterville. As Dodson attempted to return to the southbound lane, he lost control and traveled back into the northbound lane, where the two vehicles collided head-on.
Authorities said Rhinehart’s vehicle overturned following the crash.
Dodson, who police said was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to UPMC Williamsport, where he later died from his injuries.
Rhinehart, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Geisinger Jersey Shore with suspected minor injuries.
Several emergency crews, including local fire departments, PennDOT, and towing services, responded to the scene.
