FLORIDA — A man was killed Sunday in Pembroke Park after being shot and crashing his vehicle, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Pembroke Park Police responded to reports of a crash near the 3900 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard.
Investigators said officers at the scene learned that the victim, identified as 32-year-old Daniel Mathis, had been involved in a verbal altercation with another person at the Orion Gas station.
According to deputies, the argument escalated and Mathis was shot. Authorities said he then attempted to flee the area in a Dodge Challenger.
Investigators said Mathis drove northbound into traffic and crossed over the center median, causing an SUV to collide with his vehicle.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Mathis to a hospital, where he later died.
The investigation remains active.
