OHIO — A utility worker suffered serious injuries following a crash Monday morning in Greene County.
Emergency crews responded just after 7 a.m. to reports of a crash on Upper Bellbrook Road near Willwood Lane in Sugarcreek Township, according to a Greene County dispatcher.
Preliminary investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol found that a Ford F-450 operated by 25-year-old Timothy Knepple of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was stopped in the roadway for utility maintenance when it was struck from behind by a Chevrolet 3500HD.
Authorities said the Chevrolet was driven by 52-year-old Josh Griggs of Xenia, who was traveling northeast on Upper Bellbrook Road at the time of the collision.
Investigators said Knepple was thrown from the bucket of the utility vehicle during the crash. He was transported to Kettering Health Main Campus with serious, life-threatening injuries.
Griggs was not injured in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
