KENTUCKY — All lanes of Interstate 64 East in Shelby County remain closed Monday morning after a semi-truck crash caused significant roadway damage, according to Kentucky transportation officials.
The crash happened early Monday near U.S. 60 and Taylorsville Road. Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the semi damaged a guardrail and struck a nearby bridge abutment.
One person was taken to a hospital following the crash. The extent of the injuries was not immediately released.
Transportation officials said inspectors would begin assessing the damage after the vehicle is removed from the scene. The length of the closure remains unknown.
“As of this time, the duration of the closure is unknown. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use an alternate route. Law enforcement is on scene to help direct traffic,” KYTC officials said in a statement.
The interstate is still closed as of 9 a.m. Monday.
Officials have not released additional details about what caused the crash.
