GEORGIA — Warrants have been issued for a man and woman accused of assault and kidnapping following a custody dispute involving a 4-year-old child in Rockdale County, authorities said.

According to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Friday to the 1800 block of the Smokerise East subdivision after reports of an assault and the possible kidnapping of a child with autism.

Investigators said the child’s father, identified as Terrence Noble, and his girlfriend, Desiree Casswell, had gone to the home to visit the child. During the visit, an altercation allegedly occurred between Casswell and the child’s mother.

Authorities said Noble and Casswell then left the residence with the child without permission and drove to Atlanta.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was contacted about issuing an Amber Alert, but officials said there was no known threat to the child and no information about the vehicle involved. Instead, a statewide media alert was issued.

Atlanta police later assisted Rockdale County authorities in checking a location in Atlanta. Officers made contact with Noble’s mother, who helped return the child to Rockdale County, according to investigators.

The child was reunited with the mother shortly after midnight and was not injured.

Authorities said warrants have been issued for Noble and Casswell on charges of assault and kidnapping. The investigation remains ongoing.
