MICHIGAN — The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 16-year-old girl from Pontiac.
Authorities said La’Niiya Lanita Collins left her home on Lancaster Lane on Sunday, May 3, and has not been seen by her mother since.
Investigators said Collins does not have a cellphone but has briefly communicated with some family members through social media without revealing her location. Officials also said the 10th-grade student at the Arts and Technology Academy of Pontiac has not attended classes this week.
Collins was last seen wearing a black or blue hooded sweatshirt, though it is not known what she may currently be wearing.
She is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair styled in long curly braids.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4950 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
