
MINNESOTA — Three people, including a child, were critically injured in a shooting Thursday evening in Bemidji, and a 16-year-old suspect was later taken into custody, according to police.
Officers with the Bemidji Police Department responded around 4:40 p.m. to an apartment near 2500 Itasca Loop Northwest following reports of a shooting.
At the scene, officers found two adults and one child suffering from gunshot wounds. All three victims were transported to Sanford Hospital with critical injuries, police said.
Authorities identified the suspect as a 16-year-old boy. During the search for the suspect, the hospital was placed on lockdown as a precaution.
Police said the suspect surrendered to authorities around 6:40 p.m. without incident.
Investigators have not released information about what led to the shooting, and the relationship between the suspect and victims remains unclear.
