Two officers injured while taking stabbing suspect into custody in Alabama

ALABAMA — Two Leeds police officers were injured Thursday night while taking a stabbing suspect into custody, according to authorities.

Police said officers responded to a reported stabbing near the 7400 block of Mississippi Avenue NW.

Officials said the victim was stabbed with scissors in the face, neck and chest. Authorities said the injuries do not appear to be fatal.

According to Leeds Police, two officers were assaulted by the suspect while attempting to take the person into custody. The officers were injured during the encounter, though their conditions have not been released.

No additional information about the suspect or charges was immediately available.
