FLORIDA — A Lake County woman is facing dozens of animal cruelty charges after deputies said more than 30 starving cows were found on her property in Tavares.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, investigators arrested Lori Gonzalez on Wednesday on 31 counts of animal cruelty after deputies and a veterinarian discovered 31 emaciated cattle at her residence.
Officials said the investigation began after authorities received information about cattle in severe distress on the property. During the investigation, a veterinarian determined the cows had been severely neglected.
Photos released by authorities showed several of the cattle appearing extremely thin and malnourished.
Gonzalez was taken to the Lake County Jail, where she was being held on a $77,500 bond.
No additional details about the condition of the animals or whether they were removed from the property were immediately released.
