KENTUCKY — A 50-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night in Laurel County after deputies say he fled from a traffic stop on a motorcycle, crashed, and attempted to run from authorities on foot.
According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted a motorcycle traveling without registration plates and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Police said the driver, identified as Kendall Browning, sped away and led deputies onto several roads in an effort to evade law enforcement.
Authorities said the motorcycle eventually crashed into a tree on a dirt road. Browning then allegedly fled on foot while deputies pursued him. A passenger riding on the motorcycle suffered injuries in the crash and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
During the foot chase, deputies said they observed Browning throw an object from his pocket. After he was taken into custody, authorities searched the area and reportedly recovered methamphetamine they said belonged to Browning.
Browning was also taken to a hospital to be evaluated for injuries.
He is charged with speeding 15 mph over the speed limit, no registration receipt, no registration plates, improper registration plate, improper use of a basic registration plate, first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, failure to produce an insurance card, and failure of an owner to maintain required insurance or security, first offense.
