
ALABAMA — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said a 20-year-old man was arrested on drug trafficking charges following the execution of a search warrant in Birmingham.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies with the Vice and Narcotics Unit, assisted by the SWAT Team, Highway Safety Unit and additional personnel, executed the warrant Thursday, April 30, in the 1100 block of Birchwood Street.
Investigators identified the suspect as Ke’von Lashard Atkins, who was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities said Atkins was charged with two counts of drug trafficking and is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $3,010,000 bond.
During the search, deputies seized approximately 373 grams of methamphetamine, 8.65 grams of fentanyl, two Xanax pills and two ecstasy pills, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators also recovered $4,878 in cash, a Glock 19 9mm handgun with an extended magazine and six cellular phones.
“The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to combating illegal narcotics activity and ensuring the safety of the community,” Sheriff Mark Pettway said in a statement.
