
GEORGIA — A person was reportedly struck by a train Tuesday morning in Union City, Georgia, prompting a response from multiple emergency agencies and the closure of a nearby roadway.
According to the Union City Police Department, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. along Highway 29, also known as Roosevelt Highway. Authorities described it as a “train-related” incident and confirmed that emergency crews were dispatched to the scene.
A person had been hit by the train, though the individual’s condition has not been released. Crews from Grady Memorial Hospital, Union City Fire Department, and other first responders worked to manage the situation and secure the area.
Police said the section of Highway 29 near the incident was closed while crews responded. The Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation into what led to the collision.
