Thousands without power in Lousisana

LOUISIANA — Thousands of homes and businesses are currently without electricity across Louisiana Tuesday morning, according to the latest data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the most recent update, approximately 2,369 customers are without power statewide, representing about 0.1% of the more than 2.3 million customers tracked.

Sabine Parish is reporting the highest number of outages, with about 914 customers without service. Other areas with notable outages include Calcasieu Parish with 342, Jefferson Parish with 221 and West Baton Rouge Parish with 185. Additional outages are reported in St. John the Baptist, Tangipahoa, Rapides and Caddo parishes.

Among utility providers, Southwestern Electric Power Company is reporting the largest number of outages, with more than 1,000 customers affected. Entergy and Beauregard Electric Cooperative are also reporting outages at lower levels.

Louisiana ranks among the states with the highest outage percentages nationwide, though the overall number of affected customers remains relatively modest. Restoration efforts are ongoing.
