MARYLAND — A Maryland woman has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Melissa Ann Wilson, of Oakland, appeared in Garrett County Circuit Court on January 22, 2025, where she entered a guilty plea.
Judge Justin Gregory imposed the maximum five-year sentence, citing Wilson’s prior criminal history, which includes a conviction for the same charge.
The charges stem from a traffic stop conducted by the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office in July 2024.
Deputies discovered a large plastic bag containing several smaller bags of methamphetamine inside Wilson’s vehicle.
Narcotics officers also obtained electronic communications in which Wilson discussed drug sales.
State’s Attorney Christian Mash emphasized the county’s commitment to aggressive drug enforcement.
“There is no place for the drug trade in this community,” he stated, highlighting efforts to curb the availability of methamphetamine and fentanyl in Garrett County.
