
FLORIDA — A pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by an SUV involved in a rollover crash on Beach Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 6900 block of Beach Boulevard. A woman in her 30s was driving an SUV when she lost control of the vehicle.
Investigators said the SUV crossed the eastbound lanes, went over a curb, struck a light pole, and rolled over before hitting the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
Officials said the driver of the SUV was not injured in the crash.
The fatality marks the 69th traffic death in Duval County this year.
The roadway was temporarily shut down following the crash but has since reopened. The incident remains under investigation.
