PENNSYLVANIA — Drivers traveling through Lebanon County this weekend should expect delays due to scheduled road work on Interstate 81.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), a high-friction surface treatment will be applied on a portion of southbound I-81. The work is set to take place from 5 a.m. Saturday, May 2, through approximately midnight Sunday, May 3.
The project will cover about a 0.6-mile stretch of highway near mile marker 93, just north of Exit 90 for Route 72 in Lebanon.
During the work period, the right lane of southbound I-81 will be closed, resulting in a single-lane traffic pattern through the area. PennDOT officials advise motorists to use caution, expect potential delays, and consider alternate routes if possible.
The treatment being applied is designed to improve roadway safety by increasing traction, particularly in areas prone to wet or slippery conditions.
PennDOT reminds drivers to stay alert in work zones, obey posted speed limits, and watch for construction crews and equipment.
