NORTH CAROLINA — A 57-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash Friday night in Iredell County, according to authorities.
The crash occurred around 8:20 p.m. on Whites Farm Road near Ingram Road, where the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
Investigators said a 2013 Ford Edge traveling south crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle traveling north.
The motorcyclist, identified as Michael Alan Gandy, 57, of Statesville, died at the scene from his injuries.
Authorities said the driver of the Ford, a 17-year-old male from Statesville, was not injured.
Officials noted that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash, but speed is believed to have contributed. Charges are pending following consultation with the Iredell County District Attorney’s Office.
