
OKLAHOMA — Two people are dead following a head-on collision Friday afternoon in Cherokee County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 12:25 p.m. on State Highway 51 near North 466 Road. Authorities said a westbound vehicle driven by 44-year-old Elisha Dilbeck of Hulbert crossed the center line and struck an eastbound vehicle head-on.
Dilbeck was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
A passenger in the second vehicle, identified as 79-year-old Mildred Ramsey of Broken Arrow, also died as a result of the crash.
Officials temporarily closed State Highway 51 while first responders worked the scene. The roadway has since been reopened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
