OHIO — A 39-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal east side shooting has been taken into custody, according to U.S. Marshals.

Authorities said members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Darcell Jackson Thursday morning at a residence on East 66th Street. Jackson had been sought for aggravated murder in the shooting death of a 45-year-old man earlier in the week.

Police say the victim was shot multiple times Tuesday on Lenacrave Avenue. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

In addition to the murder charge, officials said Jackson was also wanted on a federal supervised release violation out of the Northern District of Ohio.

Investigators located Jackson after launching a fugitive investigation. When officers approached him, Jackson reportedly fled on foot, leading to a brief chase before he was apprehended on Bundy Drive.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliot credited both local police and the fugitive task force for the arrest, noting that the suspect’s attempt to flee through a populated neighborhood posed a risk to the community.

Jackson is now in custody and expected to face charges related to the deadly shooting.
