
NORTH CAROLINA — A school bus driver and several students were injured Thursday after a bus struck a bridge in Goldsboro, according to authorities.
The crash happened at the intersection of Carolina and Vine streets. Officials said the bus hit the bridge, leaving the front end heavily damaged.
Authorities reported that nine students were on board at the time. Six students were injured and taken to UNC Health Wayne for treatment. The bus driver was airlifted to ECU Health in Greenville. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
All children were able to exit the bus following the crash. Police at the scene said they did not believe the students’ injuries were life-threatening.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
