
NORTH CAROLINA — Three men were arrested Thursday following a drug raid at a residence in Whiteville, according to police.
The Whiteville Police Department said officers from its Criminal/Narcotics Investigation Division, along with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, executed a search warrant at a home on Ward Street on April 30. During the search, authorities recovered two handguns, MDMA, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Derrick Oneil Spaulding was arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shyreak Belton was also arrested on outstanding warrants and faces charges including possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling for the use, storage or sale of controlled substances and possession with intent to sell or deliver controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school.
Shawn Murchison faces multiple charges, including maintaining a dwelling for the use, storage or sale of controlled substances, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and MDMA, multiple counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver controlled substances near a school and a park, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Police said the department has expanded its narcotics enforcement efforts through a U.S. Department of Justice grant aimed at addressing drug-related activity and improving public safety.
The investigation remains ongoing.
