ALABAMA — Two people were arrested and more than $367,000 worth of drugs and dozens of firearms were seized following a series of early morning raids in Barbour County, authorities said.

According to the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and the sheriff’s drug unit executed three search warrants simultaneously at residences within the Louisville city limits on April 30 after a five-month investigation.

Officials said three teams of six deputies carried out the operation, forcing entry into each home.

Investigators reported seizing large quantities of suspected narcotics, including 714 grams of cocaine, 1,184 grams of methamphetamine, 309 grams of ecstasy pills, 125 grams of amphetamine salts, 618 grams of mushrooms, 1,860 grams of marijuana, 108 THC vape pens and 118 grams of synthetic cannabinoids, commonly known as Spice. Authorities estimated the total street value at $367,062.

In addition to drugs, deputies confiscated 23 firearms — four of which were reported stolen — along with six containers of moonshine, three pairs of brass knuckles, three vehicles and $512 in cash.

Two suspects were taken into custody: Don McClendon Jr., 69, and Xzavier Dontrail Hill, 28, both of Louisville. They were booked into the Barbour County Jail, where they remain pending bond hearings.

Sheriff’s officials said the operation was the result of months of investigative work and praised deputies for their efforts, calling the case a significant step in addressing illegal drug activity in the community.

The investigation remains ongoing.
