TENNESSEE — A 24-year-old man has been arrested after authorities say he helped facilitate the sale of illegal drugs during an undercover operation in Nashville.
According to Metro Nashville Police, detectives worked alongside federal agents Wednesday to coordinate an undercover purchase involving approximately four ounces of methamphetamine and a firearm from a suspected drug dealer.
Investigators said they observed Luis Manuel Tovar-Virguz pick up the primary suspect in a black Mazda sedan before driving to an apartment complex along Due West Avenue. While there, the two were seen meeting briefly with another individual in a manner authorities said was consistent with narcotics activity.
Police said Tovar-Virguz later dropped off the suspect at a separate location, where the individual completed the sale of the methamphetamine and a handgun to an undercover operative. The suspect was taken into custody at that time.
Tovar-Virguz was arrested separately and later agreed to speak with investigators after being advised of his rights. According to an affidavit, he admitted to bringing the firearm to sell and expected to receive $600 for the transaction. He also acknowledged driving the other suspect to complete the drug deal, police said.
Tovar-Virguz has been charged with felony delivery of a controlled substance and booked into the Downtown Detention Center. Jail records show he is being held on an immigration detainer.
The investigation remains ongoing.
