OHIO — A woman from Springfield is celebrating a life-changing lottery win after hitting a jackpot worth more than $1.8 million.

According to the Ohio Lottery, the woman won a $1,852,212 jackpot playing the EZPLAY Jackpot USA game. Officials say the winning ticket was not the one she originally intended to purchase, but she decided to keep it after hearing stories about others winning on so-called “mistake tickets.”

The winner said she initially had doubts after store staff were unable to validate the ticket despite multiple attempts. She held onto it for several days before taking it to a regional lottery office, where the prize was confirmed.

After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 26.75%, she will receive approximately $1,356,745.29.

The woman said she plans to use her winnings to pay off her home and car, cover medical expenses and consult with a financial advisor to invest the remaining funds.

Lottery officials said the $20 winning ticket was purchased at Che’s Rustic Lounge on North Bechtle Avenue in Springfield.

The EZPLAY Jackpot USA game is a progressive jackpot game that starts at $1 million and offers players a chance to win twice on each ticket.
