GEORGIA — Two people have been arrested after a major drug trafficking operation was dismantled in Hall County following a multi-agency investigation, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Authorities said the operation, known as the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), targeted a drug trafficking organization believed to be responsible for distributing significant quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and crack cocaine throughout North Georgia.

During the investigation, law enforcement executed multiple search and arrest warrants across the county.

Officials said 41-year-old Latron Franks and 32-year-old Monique Burton were arrested on April 23 after investigators seized approximately five pounds of suspected fentanyl, one pound of suspected marijuana and 14 grams of suspected crack cocaine.

Both suspects were booked into the Hall County Jail and are facing charges including trafficking fentanyl and the sale of fentanyl.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are expected.

Anyone with information related to drug activity is encouraged to contact the GBI’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.
