Four students injured following school bus crash in Georgia

GEORGIA — Four students were injured following a school bus crash early Tuesday morning in White County, according to officials.

911 received reports of a crash involving a school bus around 6:26 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 115 West and Highway 284.

Emergency crews from the White County Sheriff’s Office, White County Fire Services, White County EMS and the Cleveland Fire Department responded to the scene, along with the Georgia State Patrol.

When first responders arrived, they found the school bus off the roadway with occupants still inside. Crews entered the bus, assessed those on board for injuries and began evacuating students through the rear hatch.

Officials said there were 10 students on the bus at the time of the crash. Four students were evaluated for minor injuries and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. School system administrators accompanied the students.

Authorities have not released details about what led to the crash. The incident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
