FLORIDA — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash that caused major traffic delays early Tuesday along Interstate 95 near Viera, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Wickham Road exit at mile marker 191.
The collision involved a 2017 Dodge Journey and a 2015 Mack semi-tractor trailer. Authorities said the driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash led to the closure of all northbound lanes of I-95 in the area as troopers investigated. Traffic was diverted onto Wickham Road, creating heavy delays for morning commuters.
Motorists were advised to expect significant congestion in both the interstate and surrounding roadways while crews worked at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
