KENTUCKY — Thousands of residents across Kentucky are without electricity Monday evening following storms that moved through the region.
According to PowerOutage.us, at least 4,808 homes and businesses are currently without power statewide, representing about 0.19% of the more than 2.4 million customers tracked.
The largest concentration of outages is in Jefferson County, where nearly 3,000 customers are without power. Additional outages have been reported in Kenton, Owen, Trimble and Oldham counties.
Utility providers are also reporting scattered outages across the state. Kentucky Utilities reported the highest number of customers affected, with more than 3,400 outages. Other providers, including Owen Electric Cooperative and Duke Energy, also reported hundreds of outages.
The outages are believed to be tied to storms that brought strong winds and heavy rain, which can knock down trees and power lines.
Crews are working to restore service, but officials have not provided an estimated timeline for full restoration.
Residents are urged to use caution around downed power lines and to report outages to their utility companies. Officials also recommend preparing for possible extended outages by having emergency supplies such as flashlights, batteries and nonperishable food readily available.
