LOUISIANA — Authorities are investigating after a person was struck and killed by a train Sunday night near Slidell, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. near Haas Road and Highway 11.
Officials said the train conductor reported that a person had been struck on the tracks.
Deputies responded to the scene and located a man in the grass east of the tracks.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office has taken custody of the body and will release the victim’s identity at a later time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
