GEORGIA — A contracted kitchen worker at the Troup County Jail has been arrested, an inmate is facing additional charges, and a third suspect remains at large following a contraband smuggling investigation.
According to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began Thursday after authorities uncovered a plan to bring prohibited items into the jail. Investigators say Eugenia A. Watson, of LaGrange, used her position in the jail kitchen to conspire with two men.
Officials allege the group intended to smuggle marijuana, cigarettes and synthetic drug “K2 strips” into the facility for distribution to an inmate worker.
Watson has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit crossing the guard lines with drugs and conspiracy to commit possession of prohibited items by inmates.
Christopher Barnard Hill, an inmate at the jail, is facing additional conspiracy charges related to the alleged smuggling operation.
A third suspect, identified as Quincy Jermon Hill, is still being sought by authorities.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Troup County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division or Troup County Crimestoppers.
The investigation remains ongoing.
