
TENNESSEE — A traffic stop on Interstate 40 resulted in multiple drug charges and the arrest of a suspect on a most wanted list, according to authorities.
Police said the incident began when officers stopped a vehicle for an expired registration. During the stop, officers discovered illegal narcotics, including cocaine and fentanyl. Investigators said one of the occupants attempted to conceal drugs inside a fountain drink.
A 47-year-old from La Vergne was charged with possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.
Another 47-year-old man from Paris faces several charges, including possession of crack cocaine and fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, evading arrest, resisting arrest and criminal impersonation.
Authorities said the man also had an active felony indictment out of Henry County for the sale of fentanyl and had been listed on a most wanted list since October 2024.
A third individual, a 39-year-old from Smyrna, was taken into custody on a felony probation violation related to a prior fentanyl charge out of Rutherford County.
The investigation remains ongoing.
