INDIANA — An Evansville woman has been arrested after deputies say she was intoxicated while driving and left the scene of a crash in Vanderburgh County.
According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched just before 8 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of State Road 57 and East Boonville-New Harmony Road for a reported accident.
Investigators said a woman at the scene told deputies that 52-year-old Tina Walton had rear-ended her vehicle and then left the area, heading east on Boonville-New Harmony Road. The woman told authorities that when she approached Walton to exchange information, Walton was slurring her speech and repeatedly said, “We’re good,” before getting back into her vehicle and driving away.
Deputies later located Walton at her home, where she admitted to driving and told authorities she had instructed the other driver to follow her home after the crash.
Authorities said Walton was given a portable breath test, which showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.221, more than twice the legal limit.
Walton was taken into custody and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
The incident remains under investigation.
