
SOUTH CAROLINA — A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday morning in a crash in Pickens County, according to authorities.
The Pickens County Coroner’s Office said the crash happened around 1:45 a.m. after deputies with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle near Saluda Dam Road and Prince Perry Road.
Officials said the rider attempted to flee from deputies and later crashed on Saluda Dam Road.
The motorcyclist, identified as Stephen Buck Bowman of Greenville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said Bowman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
An autopsy has been scheduled.
The incident remains under investigation by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
