TENNESSEE — Two people were killed Thursday afternoon in a crash involving a motorcycle and a Jeep in Morgan County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 3:48 p.m. on Highway 27. Troopers said a Jeep Latitude, driven by 57-year-old Dean Hicks, was stopped at a stop sign on Coal Hill Road and attempting to turn onto Highway 27 South.

Authorities said a motorcycle carrying two people was traveling northbound on Highway 27 when Hicks failed to yield and pulled into the roadway, striking the motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, 59-year-old Kenneth Tanner, and his passenger, 60-year-old Catherine Tanner, were both killed in the crash, according to THP.

Following the collision, the Jeep came to rest in the median, while the motorcycle stopped in the northbound lanes.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said charges are pending against Hicks. The crash remains under investigation.
