ALABAMA — Two people were killed and another was hospitalized following a crash early Wednesday morning in Brilliant, according to authorities.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 2 a.m. on April 22 along County Road 36.
Brilliant Police Chief Skylar Handley told officials that a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old died as a result of the crash. An 18-year-old was transported to UAB Hospital and remains hospitalized.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims. However, officials confirmed that the 17-year-old was a current student at Brilliant High School.
The school shared in a social media post that it was deeply saddened by the loss.
Officials have not released details about what led up to the crash.
The Brilliant Police Department is continuing to investigate.
