OHIO — A driver has been arrested and charged after a surveyor was struck and killed Tuesday evening in Clermont County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 6:22 p.m. on State Route 125 near Bennett Road in Union Township.
Investigators said a 2024 Tesla Model Y, driven by a 19-year-old, was traveling eastbound when it struck a surveyor who was standing in the two-way left-turn lane.
The victim was identified as 36-year-old Kevin Fuller of Lafayette, Arkansas. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the driver, identified as 19-year-old Prince Patel, was taken to UC Medical Center with minor injuries.
Patel has since been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, operating a vehicle under the influence, and failure to drive within marked lanes.
According to troopers, the Tesla involved is believed to be the same vehicle reported driving erratically just minutes before the crash.
Officials also noted that the surveyor was working alone and did not have safety equipment in place at the time of the incident.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
