NEW JERSEY — A woman was killed Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle crashed into a bus stop in the Co-op City section of New York City, according to investigators.
The crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bartow Avenue and Co-op City Boulevard.
Authorities said a 55-year-old man driving a 2018 Mazda CX-5 was traveling northbound on Bartow Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle. The car then struck a bus bench where two people were sitting.
A 72-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 36-year-old man was transported to Jacobi Medical Centerand is expected to recover.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
