TEXAS — Police in Orange are investigating a death after a body was discovered in a ditch outside a local pool hall Sunday.
According to authorities, the body was found in front of Cotton’s Cay pool hall, located at 8379 Highway 87. The Orange Police Department is leading the investigation.
Orange County Sheriff Bobby Smith said his office is aware of the situation but confirmed the case falls within city limits and is being handled by city police.
The body was found in the ditch earlier in the day but did not have additional details. By the afternoon, police had cleared the scene.
Officials have not released the identity of the person or confirmed whether the victim is male or female. It is also unclear if foul play is suspected.
Authorities noted that rain fell overnight, and it was not immediately known whether water levels in the ditch played a role.
The investigation remains ongoing.
