INDIANA — A man has died following a single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Tippecanoe County, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 1:30 p.m. April 17 to the 10700 block of South County Road 100 East after receiving reports of a crash.

Authorities said a silver 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling northbound from the intersection of State Road 28 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed left of center, went off the roadway and struck a large tree.

When first responders arrived, they found the male driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, unresponsive with a faint pulse. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Officials said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, though the vehicle’s airbags did deploy.

The roadway was closed for about an hour while crews worked the scene.

The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation. Authorities said it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
