INDIANA — Three men were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in downtown Indianapolis, according to police.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded just after 3 a.m. to the area of South Street and Illinois Street, near a White Castle restaurant, following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition, police said.

Investigators said a second man later walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound and was listed in stable condition.

A third victim was found at a separate scene on Madison Avenue near East Morris Street. Police said that man was also suffering from a gunshot wound and was in stable condition.

Authorities believe all three victims are connected to the initial incident at the White Castle parking lot, where an altercation may have led to the shooting.

Police said the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The investigation remains ongoing.
